Burton Court, Eardisland

Exterior image of Burton Court on a sunny day

Burton Court is a historic manor house dating from the 14th Century. We are a family run enterprise that offers a truly unique location for a wedding, a private or corporate party, a conference, a product launch or film work. Guided tours are available, booked in advance and by appointment only.

Like many great houses Burton Court has evolved over the centuries into what it is today. Mentioned in the Doomsday Book the Manor of Burton (literally means fortified dwelling place) has a long and fascinating history stretching over the last 900 years.

Burton Court has been mentioned in the intermittent skirmishes between the English and Welsh since medieval times. It was here that Henry, Prince of Wales (later Henry V) stationed his troops to watch over the movements of Owen Glendower in 1402. More recently Queen Mary had afternoon tea here with Lady of the Manor and didn’t take her gloves off when eating her cucumber sandwiches.

Accommodation

We also open all year round for luxury B&B accommodation. We have three bedrooms available for Bed & Breakfast guests looking for a relaxed setting in a quiet rural location, perfect for staycations. We are blessed to be living in the most sparsely populated county in England, and we are well situated in the heart of the Black and White Village Trail (a local tourist attraction).

Arrive through large gates and up a sweeping drive to a magnificent mansion. You will receive a welcoming, homely feel as a guest, overlaid with an unmistakable historic grandeur. Admire the fine cantilevered staircase as you ascend to one of the fabulous comfortable bedroom suites. Breakfast is served in our recently decorated Dining Room.
